The Dallas Cowboys return to AT&T Stadium today for a real football game for the first time since their embarrassing and still unconscionable 48-32 loss to the Green Bay Packers last January in the wild card playoffs.
They haven’t talked much about Green Bay this week as their prepare to host the New Orleans Saints in the 2024 home opener.
After opening the season with a 33-17 victory at the Cleveland Browns, the focus now is to reclaim their dominance at home and an extend a 16-game home winning streak that is two short of the franchise record.
Again, that run comes with an asterisk these days because of the home wild-card loss to Green Bay in January.
“We had a streak that we ruined,” wide receiver CeeDee Lamb said. “We are very aware of that and we looking to get that thing back on.”
The stench from Green Bay will linger for the Cowboys until they can do something about it in the playoffs.
But the key to getting their is reclaiming their dominance at home and continuing their regular season winning streak.
“Got to get another one, got to keep it rolling,” quarterback Dak Prescott said. “I know the last time we were in there, it wasn’t a win. And so it’s about getting that taste out of our mouths and giving our home fans something good to cheer about.”
