Jung underwent another operation on his right wrist, Carter had an ablation procedure on his back and Garcia needs eight weeks to rehab a sprained left patella tendon. Meanwhile, the Yankees advanced in the MLB postseason by beating the Royals behind a strong outing by Gerrit Cole. They awaited the winner of the other American League division series, the Tigers or the Guardians.
