The Texas Rangers signed catcher Kyle Higashioka on Monday night to a two-year, $13.5 million deal, and the former Padres backstop revealed Tuesday on the DLLS Rangers Podcast that the club was aggressive in pursuing him. They called him on the first day of free agency and scheduled a Zoom call shortly thereafter with president of baseball operations Chris Young, manager Bruce Bochy and general manager Ross Fenstermaker. Higashioka said that he is looking forward to working with fellow catcher Jonah Heim and catching Jacob deGrom.
