Kumar Rocker did not pitch particularly well in his Texas Rangers spring debut Wednesday, allowing four runs in one inning against the Royals. The good thing? It doesn’t matter, as players generally aren’t evaluated during the first week of games. Rocker seems to understand that he could start the season in the minors and is willing to go there and work his way into the Rangers’ picture. He almost certainly will be in the rotation at some point, either as a spot starter, a fill-in or a full-time member. The American League West looks like it will be tight, and the Rangers have advantages at multiple positions.
