I mean, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, the timing is irrelevant when it comes to the status of his hamstring, which he tore in a season-ending injury last season.

“I’m excited about where I am,” Prescott said prior to the annual Children’s Cancer Fund Gala in Dallas on Friday night. “If I had to play a game today, I could definitely do that.”

In addition, Prescott said he plans to be involved in the Cowboys’ upcoming team activities. Dallas’ offseason workouts begin on Monday. Organized team activities begin on May 19.

The declaration was notable, considering Prescott suffered his torn hamstring in early November. He had surgery later that month.

This is the second season-ending injury Prescott has suffered in his career. He suffered a fractured and disclosed ankle injury in 2020.

Prescott pointed out that his injuries haven’t been similar, thus opposing any indication that the 31-year-old might be injury prone. He said he’s been following the direction of his doctors and he likes where he’s at.
That direction has also included a lot of lower-body exercise, he said, resulting in a slimmer looking Prescott — at least in his upper body.

Prescott said he’s actually hasn’t lost much weight and he’s nearly the same — despite the claims of his tight end, Jake Ferguson, who posted earlier this week that Prescott was down 50 pounds.

Not the case for Prescott, who Ferguson dubbed the slim reaper.

Prescott does, however, feel good about where he’s at and where he’s going.

“It’s about being the best that I can be,” Prescott said, “and getting healthy and making sure I’m as healthy as I can be going into the season and nothing continues to linger or make something bigger than it is. At the end of the day it’s about manifesting. I’m a positive thought guy.”

No matter the positivity, Prescott doesn’t have to manifest playing in a game tomorrow. He still has almost half a year before the Cowboys need him back.
