The Texas Rangers needed a victory Thursday night to complete a three-game sweep of the Angels and had Kumar Rocker on the mound in what was a pivotal start for him. He delivered seven strong innings, allowing three runs and striking out eight to earn his first career victory in a 5-3 win. Rocker needed a strong performance with Patrick Corbin pitching well and the Rangers needing a roster spot as soon as Tuesday for Jack Leiter. A bad start could have resulted in Rocker being sent to the minors. Adolis Garcia and Corey Seager backed Rocker with solo homers, and Leody Taveras collected an RBI double as the Rangers improved to 9-1 at home. Up next? The mighty Dodgers.
