The Dallas Cowboys have their official marching orders for the 2025 season.

The list of opponents were decided at the end of the 2024 season and it was well known to be one of the league’s toughest schedules based on last season’s results when you consider they faced the NFC North and the AFC West in addition to the usual NFC East rivals, led by the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

And the NFL did Brian Schottenheimer in his first year as Cowboys coach and quarterback Dak Prescott, who missed the final nine games of last season with a hamstring torn off the bone, to start they season.

They open at the Philadelphia Eagles in the league’s annual season kickoff game on Thursday Sept. 4. They then face the New York Giants in the home opener in Week 2 at AT&T Stadium.

What follows is a trip to Chicago to face the Bears and their new coach in Ben Johnson followed by a home game against Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers in the first meeting between the two teams since the Packers blew the Cowboys out of the playoffs AT&T Stadium to end the 2023 season.

The Cowboys have a relatively soft next two games against at the New York Jets and the Carolina Panthers. But four of their first six games are on the road and five of their first eight are away as they then host the Washington Commanders before playing at the Denver Broncos.

The Cowboys host Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football in Week 9 Before having a bye week in Week 10.

The return from the bye for a road game at the Las Vegas Raiders before beginning a murderous row three game stretch with the Eagles and Chiefs at home on Thanksgiving Day before playing at the Detroit Lions seven days later on the following Thursday.

That Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Chiefs should be a ratings bonanza. Keep in mind that that last time the Cowboys hosted the Chiefs on Thanksgiving Day was in 1995. The Cowboys won that game and went on to win the Super Bowl. It was their third Super Bowl title in four years and it was the last time the Cowboys had finished the season at champions, ushering in the 29-year drought since they last reached the NFC title game.

After the Lions, the Cowboys host the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Chargers before finishing the season on the road against the Washington Commanders and New York Giants.

The Cowboys will play the Commanders on Christmas Day as they will play on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day in 2025.

The Cowboys will play on Christmas for the first time in 15 years. It will the fourth Christmas Day game in franchise history and it will occur on a Thursday, giving them 10 days to rest for the season final.
