The Texas Rangers were heading toward victory Sunday. Jack Leiter took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, and a three-run fourth inning had the Rangers holding on entering the eighth. But the Astros scored three times in a wild inning that included a terrible at-bat by plate umpire Nick Mahrley, a Chris Martin injury and a two-out three-run homer by Isaac Paredes off of Robert Garcia. The result was a 4-3 Rangers loss, even though they hit four balls in the eighth inning harder than 100 mph. The teams split the series amid mounting bullpen woes for the Rangers. Their offense is showing signs of life, and their rotation remains one of the best in baseball.
