The Texas Rangers were off Monday, resting on a four-game winning streak that pushed them back to .500 at 36-36. They open a three-game series Tuesday against the Royals, who have lost six straight and are below .500. The next two series are at the Pirates and at the Orioles, both below .500, and then the Mariners and the Orioles come to town. The Mariners are below .500. You see where we’re headed here? The Rangers need to take advantage of a softer portion of their schedule to reestablish themselves as postseason contenders. The rotation is unsettled for the Royals series, with Jack Leiter starting the opener, and fans seem to want Craig Kimbrel to join the bullpen after two good outings at Triple A Round Rock.
