The Texas Rangers had everything set up to win Wednesday and capture the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. But with two outs and nobody on in the ninth inning, Phil Maton lost it and Arizona scored four times to stun the Rangers 6-4. The loss, despite an effective start by Merrill Kelly against his old team, sent the Rangers to a 3-6 homestand and dropped them four games back in the wild-card hunt ahead of a seven-game road trip to Toronto and Kansas City. The Rangers continue to be plagued by an underachieving offense, though Jake Burger (two-run homer) is proving a spark, and the lack of a true closer. An offseason shakeup is coming, with Adolis Garcia possibly on his way out. He landed on the injured list Wednesday with a bum ankle, which should allow him time to work on his swing and his approach. Will the Rangers have anything left to play for once he returns?
