The Texas Rangers did what they had to do over the weekend in West Sacramento, sweeping the A’s and continuing to stay in the postseason hunt. On Sunday, Jacob deGrom tossed five scoreless innings, and Joc Pederson and Josh Jung hit early home runs to help the Rangers to a 9-6 victory. The Rangers led 8-0 in the eighth inning before the A’s found some rhythm against mop-up man Caleb Boushley. Next up is a trip to Arizona to face a Diamondbacks team that won a three-game series in August at Globe Life Field. Patrick Corbin gets the opener after tossing eight scoreless innings last week against the Angels.
