George Pickens looked the part of a No. 1 WR last Sunday night during the Dallas Cowboys’ 40-40 tie with the Green Bay Packers.

During the offensive battle, the first-year Cowboy recorded eight receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns. His 134 yards were the most he’s had in a game since a late December 2023 matchup vs. the Cincinnati Bengals when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“It definitely was a show, right, for the rest of the league and put them on notice,” Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said.

For those who had any doubts about the former 2022 second-round pick’s ability to be Dallas’ top option while CeeDee Lamb (ankle) remains sidelined, Pickens answered many of those critics.

However, if you need more convincing, look no further than the Cowboys’ Week 5 matchup against the New York Jets, featuring one of the game’s top key matchups: Pickens vs. Jets All-Pro CB Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner.

While all eyes will be on the two stars going head-to-head, for Pickens, it’s all about just playing his role to help his team get back on the win column.

“I don’t ever lock in on one-on-one matchups, I just normally beat whoever is in front of you just to help my team,” Pickens said after Thursday’s practice.

Gardner, a two-time All-Pro, has already locked up some of the league’s top playmakers, including Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans in Week 3, whom he shadowed on 60% of the future Hall of famers routes and limited him to just two receptions for 22 yards.

Pickens, who faced off against the fourth-year corner last season during Week 7, was limited to just one reception for 12 yards.

“More rangy, you know we the same size so it’s going to be a good matchup and I really just want to come out and be efficient,” Pickens said.

The Cowboys and Jets will kick off Sunday at 12 pm CT as Dallas aims for its first win at the Jets since 2003.
