The wait to learn who the Texas Rangers‘ new manager will be ended Friday night, when the club announced that it had hired Skip Schumaker to replace Bruce Bochy. Schumaker, 45, worked for the Rangers this season as a senior advisor in baseball operations after spending the previous two seasons as the Marlins’ manager. He knows what he’s getting into. He replaces Bochy, a future Hall of Famer who led the Rangers to their only World Series title in 2023. The past two seasons fell short of expectations, and the Rangers wanted a different voice for a roster that will be younger in 2026.
