The Texas Rangers need to turn their fortunes around, and they have hired Skip Schumaker as manager to help lead the charge. He has been a big-league manager for two seasons and is replacing a manager with more than 2,200 career victories and four World Series rings, Bruce Bochy. Schumaker said upon being hired by the Marlins that he wanted to create a winning culture. Culture will be high on his to-do list, and so will fixing the Rangers’ offense. His offensive philosophy could be rooted in the manager he worked with for the majority of his career — Tony LaRussa in St. Louis.
