The Texas Rangers have said they have a decision to make about the future of catcher Jonah Heim, who in 2023 looked like a long-term extension candidate but has fallen sharply the past two seasons. Kyle Higashioka will be back in 2026 for the second year of his two-year contract, but Heim might not return for his final year of salary arbitration. The Rangers are seeking more value than the roughly $6 million they would owe Heim in arbitration, and they might be open to an upgrade. There are teams with a catching surplus who might make for intriguing trade partners if the Rangers move on from Heim. Adley Rutschman, anyone?
