The Dallas Stars season-long six-game road trip came to an end on Thursday night with a 2-1 loss to the Utah Mammoth at Delta Center. The Stars finished the trip with a disappointing 2-3-1 record. Nick Schmaltz opened the scoring with seven seconds left in the second period, but Mikko Rantanen tied it up with an early third period power play goal. It would remain tied for 1:59 before John Marino’s shot deflected off the shoulder of Jake Oettinger and bounced in the net. Dallas pulled Oettinger for an extra attacker for the final 3:22 of regulation, but could not find the equalizer.
