On January 19th, the Dallas Stars were 13 points behind the Colorado Avalanche for first place in both the Central Division and the top seed in the National Hockey League. Two months later, the Stars have closed that gap to just two points, although Colorado has a game in-hand. It felt like a formality that the Avalanche would run away with the Presidents’ Trophy, but now suddenly it feels very much up for grabs.
