Jake Burger hit a three-run homer and collected the game-tying hit in the ninth as the Texas Rangers stormed back for a walk-off victory against Arizona. Next up: the Astros.
The Texas Rangers snatched victory from the jaws of defeat Wednesday night, scoring three times in the ninth inning for a 6-5 walk-off win after Arizona had scored three in the top of the inning for a two-run lead. The heroes were two good guys who had struggled — Jake Burger and Danny Jansen. Burger tied the game in the ninth with a single, and Jansen won it with a single on the next pitch. Now, the Rangers head to Houston for the Silver Boot Series, which the Astros have won for nine straight seasons. This year, though, has a different feel to it. Also, it looks like Nathan Eovaldi will pitch in the series finale.
