On Wednesday morning, the Dallas Stars traded forward Mavrik Bourque and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 third-round pick.
Bourque is set to become a restricted free agent and was likely receiving some offer sheets from other clubs. Lyubushkin’s $3.25 million contract needed to be moved to make space for other things.
This one will be tough for fans to swallow, as Bourque was not only a fan favorite, but had also finally found his groove with a 20-goal season last year.
