Let’s start today’s Dallas Cowboys report with some injury updates from practice.
- Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, who been injured of last three seasons, was held out of team drills do to leg soreness, per coach Brian Schottenheimer. It was more about precaution than a long-term concern with Overshown who has had a strong start to camp.
- Left Tyler Guyton missed some reps with the first team due to elbow soreness. It’s ironic that happened on the same day Schottenheimer announced that Guyton would stay at left tackle and not rotate in competition Nate Thomas. Schottenheimer wanted to make it clear that the reason Thomas took first-team reps was about Guyton had a sore elbow. Again nothing to be alarmed about.
- Defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku was kicked out of practice because he threw a punch at right tackle Terence Steele after a brief scuffle. Fighting is one thing but throw a punch is going too far, per Schottenheimer.
- Safety Alijah Clark left practice with an ankle ankle. It is not believed to be serious.
- Defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard was held out of practice due to sore hamstrings.
- Safety P. J. Locke, who has been out since suffering a hyperextended knee last week, returned to practice on Tuesday.
- It was interesting watching CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens catch passes from the jugs machine in pre-practice with a net over their heads. They looked like a pair of beekeepers.
- Tight end Princeton Fant, who was carted off from Monday’s practice, will miss the season with a left knee injury. Fant tore his anterior cruciate ligament and partially tore his medial collateral ligament and will undergo surgery in the next couple of weeks, Schottenheimer said Tuesday.
- Speaking of tight ends, Jake Ferguson had his second straight strong outing catching pass from quarterback Dak Prescott. The seam ball might be back.
- After his best practice of training camp on Monday, cornerback Shavel Ravel Jr. worked with the first team opposite DaRon Bland. He followed with another strong outing. After Revel was flagged for interference on a deep pass to George Pickens, he walked to the sideline and got some personal coaching up from defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
