The A’s stood no choice Monday night against Jacob deGrom, who atoned for his poor outing last week with seven one-hit innings to fuel the Texas Rangers.
ARLINGTON — The door to the Texas Rangers‘ bullpen swung open Monday for the top of the eighth inning, and out jogged Robby Ahlstrom to replace Jacob deGrom after only 85 pitches. The Rangers were up a touchdown, and their veteran ace has been running low on oil the past six weeks.
No one made a big deal about the pitching change, but maybe someone would have raised a stink in a different baseball time. DeGrom had faced the minimum through seven innings, with the lone hit he allowed erased by a double play.
