The Dallas Mavericks had scored at least 110 points in each of their first six games before Kyrie Irving missed their matchup against the Sacramento Kings.
Irving, who is managing his left knee after tearing his ACL during the 2024-25 season, missed his second game of the season. Without their star point guard, the Mavericks struggled to maintain their offensive rhythm, and rookie Cooper Flagg had difficulty sustaining his strong start.
“He does so much for us and making big shots and calming us down,” Dallas Mavericks coach Dusty May said. “We haven’t been able to answer runs very well. That’s one area that he does (well). But when one of your guys is out and another one just has a an off night, you just you got to have some other guys step up and making shots as part of that, and they just didn’t drop.”
Flagg finished with 17 points, four rebounds and six assists but shot 3 of 19 from the field in a 115-100 loss to the Kings on Monday night.
