After one of the greatest scoring heaters ever by a teenager, Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg finally looked human.
Flagg finished with 25 points and nine rebounds on 9-of-25 shooting from the field.
Yes, 25 points qualifies as an off night for Flagg, who scored a combined 96 points over his previous two games — the most ever by a teenager in NBA history.
Still, Flagg’s aggressiveness through a cold shooting night was an encouraging sign for the Mavericks, who fell 116-103 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.
While Flagg cooled off, Marvin Bagley III turned in a strong performance for Dallas. He finished with 21 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.
Bagley and Flagg helped the Mavericks erase much of a 23-point first-quarter deficit and briefly take the lead in the third quarter.
Since being acquired from the Washington Wizards, Bagley is averaging 10.2 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from 3-point range. Bagley made a 3-pointer for the third consecutive game.
The Mavericks will face the Suns on Wednesday night.
