Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin was arrested Sunday morning on a pair of misdemeanor marijuana and gun charges.

Turpin was booked for possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to Collin County court records. His bond was set at $500 for the marijuana charge and $1000 for the gun charge.

It’s resulted in a call Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer didn’t want to receive roughly two weeks from the start of training camp. The Cowboys are scheduled to report on July 21.

And Turpin is now subject to discipline from the NFL under its personal conduct rules.

But considering both were misdemeanors, it’s unlikely the arrest or charges will prevent the All-Pro returner from being on the field with the Cowboys in 2025.

Turpin is coming off his most impactful season in 2024 when he averaged 33.5 yards on kickoff returns and had a joy-stick, game-changing 99-yard return touchdown against the Washington Commanders. He also had 18 punt returns for 187 yards and a touchdown.

As a receiver Turpin recorded 31 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns.

He also spent time at running back.

Turpin is an explosive weapon the Cowboys plan on using in 2025.
