In a move that shakes up the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to trade superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, per NFL Networks Tom Pelissero. The blockbuster deal immediately made waves across the league, pairing one of football’s most dominant defenders with a franchise that has already reloaded around quarterback Jordan Love.
The Deal
The Packers are sending two first-round picks and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark to Dallas in exchange for Parsons. For the Cowboys, it marks the end of weeks of speculation about Parsons’ long-term future with the team as he pushed for a new contract.
The Contract
Within moments following the trade, Green Bay secured its new defensive cornerstone. Parsons has agreed to a four-year, $188 million extension with $136 million guaranteed, negotiated by agents David Mulugheta and Andre Odom of Athletes First. The deal averages $47 million per year, making Parsons the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.
