George Pickens has far exceeded expectations in 2025.
The first year Dallas Cowboys wideout has played a major role in helping elevate the offense to second in total yards, after the team finished 17th a season ago.
Pickens himself has enjoyed a career year.
Through 15 games played this season, the former 2022 second-round pick has recorded career highs in receptions (88), receiving yards (1,342), and touchdowns (9), and still has two games left to go.
Pickens also tied a career high last Sunday during the Cowboys’ 34-17 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in 100-yard receiving games, with now five on the season and a chance to break that mark over the final two weeks.
Overall, the end result for this year, is his first ever career Pro Bowl selection.
Pickens will join four of his teammates, quarterback Dak Prescott, defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, guard Tyler Smith, and kicker Brandon Aubrey at this seasons Pro Bowl games in San Francisco.
“Yeah super proud of myself. Super proud of guys because I wouldn’t be able to do some of it without the guys,” Pickens said.
After a three-year stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with whom he began his career from 2022 to 2024, Pickens was at the center of controversy in the Steel City amid reports that the team questioned his immaturity despite his incredible playmaking ability.
The Steelers had enough and sent him to the Cowboys for a 2026 third-round selection and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
After all the narratives that had surrounded, for Pickens, a new beginning, and making the Pro Bowl in his first year as a Cowboy was a just satisfying feeling.
“I definitely say a refresher for me,” Pickens said. “As far as like new year, it’s a new year coming up. When I came in this year, I was new to this team. Got to know the guys. Just all a new thing for me. So super refreshing, as the year you know closes up.”
The 24-year-old enters 2026 as an unrestricted free agent. Pickens will be one of the major talking points on the Cowboys this offseason regarding bringing him back.
His market value sits at $30 million per Spotrac, and he has made it clear multiple times this season that he would love to be back in Dallas, and the team made it clear earlier in the year that they are interested in retaining him.
“Like I always said, it’s the guys here. I feel like you can’t get that everywhere,” Pickens said. “That’s why I always say that, because you cannot get that everywhere. I kind of been in other places, top 30 visits when I was coming out, pre-draft, the guys here, and the culture here, is just a little different.”
Now with the Pro Bowl honor on his belt in his first season as a Cowboy, Pickens was asked if the selection does anything to increase those future paychecks as he enters negotiations.
“It definitely improves as far as like a career. It improves my career, but as far as like contractually, I can just wait until the offseason. Trying to finish up this season on a positive good note,” Pickens said.
For now, No. 3 will join the leagues best wideouts for the 2026 Pro Bowl games at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, on Tuesday, February 3.

Hard to believe we can fix a defense and have $70 mil a year invested in 2 receivers.
