Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott credits Eagles for Super Bowl win, says 'it's our turn'

DALLAS — Everyone in the NFL is looking up at the Philadelphia Eagles, with varying degrees of separation. As for the Dallas Cowboys, quarterback Dak Prescott doesn’t think the gap is too far — despite the significant different in the record for both teams.

Prescott, speaking at a Children’s Cancer Fund event in Dallas on Tuesday, gave credit to the Eagles after their dominant Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The ever-confident Prescott didn’t shy away after that and stick to pleasantries, however.

“I feel like we compete with the Eagles and beat them when we play them, for the most part,” Prescott said. “I don’t want to say check the record when the other guy is holding the trophy right now, so credit to them. They’ve earned it and they deserve it by all means, but [we’re] very close. Watch the NFC [Championship] game and those two teams that we battle against each and every year a couple of times. As I said, I feel confident that we’ve gotten the better part, each and every time. To see [the Eagles] win in such a dominating fashion, credit to them.

“It’s our turn, and it’s on us.”

There is some merit to what Prescott, personally, has experienced against the Eagles.

Prescott is 9-4 in his career against the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s completed 66.8% of his passes in those 13 games for 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Of note: Prescott and current Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts have rarely played against each other due to either or both of them being injured and out when the two teams played. That included this season, when Prescott missed both games against the Eagles. Hurts missed one of the two matchups as well.

The Eagles outscored the Cowboys 75-13 in two games with Cooper Rush starting at quarterback for Dallas.

The Cowboys dealt with a bunch of other injuries, too. They were among the most injured teams in the NFL this year, according to Sports Info Solutions.

The odds for next year’s Super Bowl winner are already out on DraftKings. The Cowboys are tied with four other teams for the 17th-highest odds to win it all next year. The Eagles are the current favorites.

Everyone is looking up at Philadelphia, and though the records and odds don’t suggest it, Prescott made it known that he believes they’re close to Dallas.
