The Dallas Cowboys have officially been eliminated from the NFC playoff race.

The Cowboys were mathematically eliminated before they could take the field against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday night when the Washington Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 36-33.

At 6-8, the Cowboys’ chances were already slim. They needed Washington to lose out and they had win their their final three games.

And they needed other help as well.

But at least they had hope.

Now it’s all gone.

The Cowboys will miss the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.

They went 12-5 in 2021, 2022 and 2023 with two NFC East titles.

The Cowboys 6-10 in 2020 in coach Mike McCarthy’s first season when quarterback Dak Prescott missed the final 11 games with a fractured ankle.

Prescott played in just eight games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending torn hamstring.

After the Buccaneers game, the Cowboys play at Philadelphia and host Washington to end the season.
