Welcome to DLLS Dallas Stars weekly! Every Monday, I will recap news, rumors, notes, and articles from the previous week.
This week was eerily quiet, but there are always a few fun things to pull. So, let’s get into it.
NHL schedule releases were fun
On Wednesday, the NHL released its full regular season schedule. As usual, each team took their release in a different, unique way.
We had the hilarity of the Los Angeles Kings…
There was a 1999 reference and some still hurt feelings for the Buffalo Sabres…

And then, of course, we had the Dallas Stars.
And while their release was nothing crazy, it did feature some fun kids’ drawings and some artwork that looked like it came from kids. When in reality, they were from current roster players.
Some… were better than others.
Add to that Scott Wedgewood calling out Thomas Harley, saying his daughter could do better drawing the Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues logos, and it made for a fun day.
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back
Stars fans at American Airlines Center will have two notable and emotional welcome home parties early in the season.
First, on Oct. 25, Logan Stankoven takes the ice against his former team for the first time. Fresh off an eight-year contract extension with the Carolina Hurricanes, Stankoven has been a fan favorite in Dallas since day one.
Then, shortly after, Mason Marchment and the Seattle Kraken come to town on Nov. 9. Marchment played three seasons in Dallas, each time reaching the Western Conference Final. He was most known for his antics, wild colored eyes, and chemistry with Tyler Seguin and Matt Duchene.
These should be two warm welcomes from the sellout crowds at the AAC.
Stars roster talk
The Stars have a lot of questions within their current roster.
Will they upgrade at forward? Who will play left wing on the second line? Where does Jamie Benn fit in? Are they happy going into the season with the current group of defensemen?
The DLLS Stars crew dove into that all week, but one particular discussion I liked was about Justin Hryckowian AND how the Stars should look for role players rather than skill in certain areas.
Plus, Sean Shapiro dove into another young player, Mavrik Bourque, and the huge opportunity and reset in front of him in 2025-26.
Happy Birthday and Hyvää syntymäpäivää
Finally, a very happy birthday to both Jamie Benn and Miro Heiskanen. Benn turned 36 on Friday, while Heiskanen turned 26.
I thought it was neat that they not only share the same birthday, but also how this decade of separation was a nice little peek into the variety of ages on the current Stars roster.
With the departure of Brendan Smith and Evgenii Dadonov, Benn is now the oldest player on the team at 36 (1989). On the flip side, Lian Bichsel recently turned 21 (2004). That’s a pretty wide range.
Here’s to something happening next week!
