Things continue to continue to fall apart for the Dallas Cowboys during an already disappointing 2024 season.
Just hours before kickoff of Monday night’s game between the Cowboys and Houston Texans, a piece of debris fell from the roof of AT&T Stadium onto the playing field.
According to Fox 4 in Dallas, “a large piece of metal,” fell from the roof as it was opening before the game.
The good news is no one was injured, but it was a scary moment as the debris fell near several people who were on the field preparing for the television broadcast.
“We can confirm a piece of metal came loose and fell to the field (with some additional small debris) while the roof was in the process of opening. There were no injuries. It is being reviewed further, and a decision regarding the ability to re-open the roof safely will be made when possible,” the Cowboys said in a statement.
The Cowboys added that “high winds during the day impacted” the stadium and played a role in “the piece falling.”
The roof was subsequently closed for the game, which will began at 7:15 p.m.
The roof at AT&T Stadium has not been open for a game since October of 2022.
The Cowboys are 3-6 and hoping to end a four-game losing streak against the Texans (6-4).
The Cowboys are 0-4 at home in 2024 and no touchdowns and 10 turnovers last two homes games, a 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions and a 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
