The Dallas Cowboys were likely going to use a Day 3 selection on a developmental quarterback in the NFL Draft. They did, but not in the way originally expected. The Cowboys acquired intriguing backup quarterback Joe Milton III from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 5th round compensatory pick. The Cowboys also received a 7th round pick.
