Today on our summer series “The Other 31” we focus on the newly named Utah Mammoth, with special guests Belle Fraser, Mammoth beat writer for the Salt Lake Tribune, and Steve “Petey” Peters, former NHL video coach and host of Inside the Coaches’ Room. Gone is the moniker “Utah Hockey Club” and their franchise is hoping the Mammoth can become a perennial playoff contender, after the group that was the Arizona Coyotes and Utah H.C. combined for just one post season appearance (2020 Bubble Playoffs) in the last 13 years. Clayton Keller leads an up-and-coming group of potential stars, like Dylan Guenther and Logan Cooley, with some high–end first round draft picks in the pipeline. The most recent rebuild under general manager Bill Armstrong has been calculated and patience, and the group appears to be trending in the right direction, but at what point will that patience run thin?
