Today on our summer series “The Other 31” we talk about the Edmonton Oilers, the Dallas Stars foil for each of the last two seasons, with special guest Mark Spector – senior columnist for Sportsnet – and Kevin Karius – morning host of The Kevin Karius Show on Sports 1440 in Edmonton. The Oilers have gotten as close as a team can get without winning it all, losing in the Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers in both 2024 and 2025. With two of the top players in the NHL, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Edmonton really does seem to be in a position where anything other than winning the Stanley Cup would be considered a failure, which is an insanely high level of expectation. We’ll ask our guests their perspectives of the 2025 Stars-Oilers Western Conference Final rematch, some significant roster turnover for both squads and their 2025-26 outlooks.
