The Texas Rangers opened a three-game series Monday at Wrigley Field, hoping their offense could get going in the deep Chicago freeze. Alas, the hits weren’t there in a 7-0 loss in which Nathan Eovaldi struggled with the elements. On Tuesday, the Rangers were planning to activate Josh Jung (they did), start Patrick Corbin (they did) and find a way to keep Josh Smith in the lineup (they did). It was going to be cold again in Chicago (it was) and the Wednesday series finale might not be played because of rain. Maybe a rainout, like in Bull Durham, is what the Rangers’ offense needs. The only solution is for these guys to figure it out themselves.
