Cooper Flagg drove toward the basket, stopped on a dime and rose up for one of the biggest jumpers of the night, giving the Mavericks a late fourth-quarter lead.
Dallas allowed Detroit to tie the game at the other end, forcing overtime, but Flagg was just as impactful in the extra period.
Flagg opened overtime by banking an assist to Anthony Davis for a layup, then found Davis again later in the period while continuing to relentlessly attack the rim.
Even after missing a jumper with under a minute remaining, Flagg hustled back on defense to get a crucial stop on Pistons guard Cade Cunningham.
Flagg’s clutch plays on both ends helped the Mavericks beat the Pistons 116-114 at the American Airlines Center on Thursday night.
