D’Angelo Russell still hasn’t started a game this season, but that hasn’t stopped the Dallas Mavericks guard from making his mark.
Russell scored a season-high 31 points, shooting 7-of-13 from beyond the arc. He added three assists and seven rebounds.
Despite his big performance, the Mavericks fell to the Detroit Pistons, 122-110, on Saturday night in Mexico City.
Detroit’s duo of Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren led the way. Cunningham finished with 21 points and 18 assists, while Duren recorded 33 points and 10 rebounds.
Duren powered the Pistons paint attack. The team had 11 dunks and made 36 two-point field goals.
The Pistons closed the game on a 17-4 run, capped by a dagger 3-pointer from Cunningham.
Dallas will look to bounce back Monday when it travels to Houston to face the Rockets.
