With two minutes left in the fourth quarter and the shot clock winding down, Cooper Flagg drilled a 3-pointer from the top of the arc.
Flagg struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 2 of 8, but showed his clutch gene by scoring 12 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter to help the Mavericks secure a 113-109 win against the Miami Heat on Monday.
The forward followed with a layup to extend Dallas’ lead. Mavericks guard Zaccharie Risacher then blocked Heat guard Davion Mitchell to seal the win.
The Mavericks played in the most clutch games in the NBA last season. On Monday, those late-game experiences paid off.
Flagg, who missed one game with a left shoulder injury, finished with 11 assists, six rebounds, five steals and three blocks. It was his first double-double of the season.
He also received help from Kyrie Irving, who finished with 18 points, six rebounds and six assists.
