The Dallas Mavericks’ star duo of Cooper Flagg and Kyrie Irving combined for just six points on 3-of-17 shooting (18%) in the first half Friday night. Yet Dallas entered halftime tied with the Utah Jazz at 57.
One reason was P.J. Washington, who erupted for 22 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field. Washington was especially effective from beyond the arc, knocking down all five of his 3-point attempts.
But in the third quarter, the Mavericks’ stars made their presence felt.
