The Dallas Stars swept their two-goal season-opening road trip, as they beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-4 in a shootout on Saturday night at Ball Arena. Jake Oettinger put on a dazzling display, stopping 35-of-39 shots through regulation and overtime and then going 2-for-3 in the shootout to earn his second win of the year. In a very entertaining affair, the Stars led 1-0, 3-2 and 4-3 before ultimately winning via the skills contest, while the Avalanche led 2-1 and clawed back from three deficits to earn a point in their first non-win of 2025-26. Thomas Harley led the way for Dallas with a two-point night (1 goal, 1 assist). The Stars also received goals from Nathan Bastian, his first as a Star, Wyatt Johnston and Jason Robertson. Nathan MacKinnon (1-2-3) and Martin Necas (1-2-3) each posted three-point performances in the losing effort for Colorado. Join the Post Game Show for all the reaction, breakdowns, insights and more.
