The Dallas Stars snapped a season-long six-game winless skid by beating the Washington Capitals 3-1 on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena. With the victory, the Stars secured their first win of the 2026 calendar year, their first win since December 21 vs. Toronto, and completed a two-game season series sweep over the Capitals, after beating them 1-0 in Dallas on October 28. Radek Faksa scored a shorthanded goal, Sam Steel tallied a 4-on-4 goal, Wyatt Johnston found the net at 5-on-5 and Roope Hintz added an empty net goal. Alex Ovechkin had the lone goal for Washington, spoiling Casey DeSmith’s shutout bid late in the third period with his NHL-best 915 career goal.
