The Texas Rangers finished the past six games with a winning road trip, which would ordinarily be a positive result. This late in the season, though, they needed more than the 4-2 mark they posted, especially after opening with four wins. But the offense scored only two runs in the final two games at Arizona, including none in the finale in a 2-0 loss. Jack Leiter overcame two sluggish innings to give the Rangers six strong frames, but a lineup of mostly platoon players and fill-ins couldn’t get much going against Diamondbacks ace Zac Gallen. Next up for the Rangers is a six-game homestand that starts Friday against the Astros and Brewers.
