The Texas Rangers still have a chance to put a dent into their deficit to the Astros in the wild-card standings, but their job got harder Monday night with 6-3 loss in which decisions by manager Bruce Bochy and third-base coach Tony Beasley were called into question. Bochy explained himself afterward, somewhat tersely. The Rangers are now three back of the Astros but have Merrill Kelly and Jacob deGrom for the final two games after Jack Leiter tossed the opener. He was done in by two errors, one his own, that led to three unearned runs.
