The Texas Rangers had yet another extra-innings victory in the palm of their hands Saturday night, only to see their foe rally for the win. This time it was the Astros, who scored twice in the 11th to stun the Rangers 5-4. The Rangers led 4-3 going to the bottom of the 11th, but closer Robert Garcia issued two walks to load the bases and leave Hoby Milner in a dire situation. Many fans were wondering about some in-game decisions made by manager Bruce Bochy and third-base coach Tony Beasley, and John Rhadigan and I tried to answer those questions. Garcia and All-Star Jacob deGrom spoke to the media afterward. Almost forgotten is that deGrom allowed two runs in six innings in his 19th start of the season, which is probably more than many people thought he’d make in 2025.
