The Toronto Blue Jays limped into Globe Life Field on Memorial Day below .500 and headed nowhere in the American League East. The Texas Rangers were limping, too, and hoping to turn their season around. It was the Blue Jays, though, who jump-started a needed stretch of good baseball, even though the teams combined to score only seven runs in three games. The series included the first game of Jacob deGrom’s career without a strikeout and the game in which Nathan Eovaldi experienced shoulder fatigue that took him out for a month. The Blue Jays surged into first place by the All-Star break and never looked back. Now, they are in the World Series and owe the Rangers a big “thank you.”
