The first decision that needed to be made this offseason by the Texas Rangers came down Monday night: Bruce Bochy is out as manager. The news was delivered by president of baseball operations Chris Young, and the team is saying the sides “mutually agreed” that Bochy wouldn’t return. Young said that the Rangers will look different in 2026, with less money to spend and a younger roster. After taking it over with Bochy, the decision was made to go another direction. The first name on the list of candidates is likely Skip Schumaker, the former Marlins manager who spent 2025 as a senior advisor in Rangers baseball operations. The new manager will have roots in player development, Young said. If the search to replace Bochy is anything like the search to hire him, Young will act quickly.
