The offense is at the root of the Texas Rangers‘ problems. The hitters, shut out seven times already this season, were one-hit Wednesday night, and their lack of production is having ancillary effects. The pitching staff might be starting to wear out, with Nathan Eovaldi the latest to leave with some soreness. The Rangers think they dodged a bullet with him, and reliever Chris Martin believes he is OK after another scare. But the Rangers are playing so many close games that they are leaning on their pitchers to keep games close in the hope that the offense will break through. Instead, it appears to be broken. Maybe the return of Corey Seager will help. It should. He’s that good, and the Rangers’ numbers with him in the lineup prove it.
