What to expect from DLLS coverage of the Texas Rangers

A veteran duo and some young blood will bring decades of experience to daily content of the reigning World Series champions.

DALLAS — Welcome to DLLS and a new, comprehensive way of covering the Texas Rangers. Speaking for John Rhadigan and Abby Jones, we’re damn glad you’re here.

We’re not reinventing the wheel with the tools we’re going to use to report Rangers news, give insight and offer opinions. Stories will be written, and podcasts will be recorded.

A minimum of five podcasts a week, though? That’s new. Putting the fan experience first, rather than being stuffy journalists? That is what separates DLLS and the ALLCITY Network from all other outlets in DFW, through watch parties, stadium takeovers, our Diehards-only Discord and interaction during our shows via the chat feature.

Those of you who have followed me for the past 17 seasons at the failing Fort Worth newspaper, on Twitter and the start-up Rangers Today know what you’re getting: hard news, coverage of the minor leagues and some dry humor. Lots of ’80s comedies and The Simpsons references, too.

(A note to Rangers Today subscribers: My family and I thank you a thousand times over for your support the past three years. Check your email for a special free trial and discount offer to join DLLS. I tried to do you guys a solid here.)

Rhads has been at this game longer than me, starting in 1990 with NBC 5 and then hopping to Fox Sports Southwest and the failing Bally Sports Southwest. He’s seen things in his four decades in town, and all bets are off with what he might say now that he’s not working with the Rangers’ television partner.

Miss Jones has been in the market the past three years with Bally. She was raised in the game as the daughter of former MLB All-Star closer Todd Jones, who traded his spikes for a microphone on Tigers broadcasts. She’s at ease at the field talking to players and coaches, and she will almost certainly make a cultural reference that will completely stump me and John.

We did some rehearsal shows last week, and our chemistry is fantastic. It’s like this was meant to be.

We start kicking ass today. You don’t want to miss it.
