The sluggish start to the season by the Texas Rangers‘ offense cost their hitting coach his job Sunday. Donnie Ecker was fired as offensive coordinator, and center fielder Leody Taveras is also off the roster after being put on outright waivers. The struggling Joc Pederson and Adolis Garcia likely cost Ecker his job, though those aren’t the only two hitters struggling. Jake Burger is in the minors, and Marcus Semien is out of the leadoff spot. On the bright side, the pitching staff continues to help the Rangers stay afloat in the American League playoff picture.
