News broke about 75 minutes before showtime that the Texas Rangers would induct former All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus into the club’s Hall of Fame. The ceremony is scheduled for June 28, a Saturday, against the Mariners. Andrus, a sparkplug on the first two World Series teams in Rangers history, played for them from 2009 to 2020. The Rangers also announced that they will unveil a statue of Andrus’ partner in crime, Adrian Beltre, on Aug. 22. Those announcements came a week before the start of spring training, so John Rhadigan and I took a look at where things stand behind the plate with Kyle Higashioka and Jonah Heim. Also, PECOTA is the latest formula/outlet/service to like the Rangers’ chances in the American League West.
