The 8-4 loss Monday night did not accurately portray how well Jack Leiter pitched for the Texas Rangers. Facing a loaded Yankees lineup, Leiter allowed only two runs in his first five innings before he was charged with the runs in the sixth. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy afterward defended keeping Leiter in for a third time through the Yankees’ lineup, and Leiter wanted to keep going. If he’s going to continue to develop, he needs experience in those situations. Wyatt Langford needs to keep playing and landing in new situations, too.
